December 2024

Paulo takled about how his students are making instruments and parts so that they can turn the Cirrus into an experimental airplane and install telemetry instruments in it for use by the telemetry class (AERO 409. Flight Test). By making parts for the plane they can keep the originals intact so that they can be reinstalled to put the plane back into a standard airworthiness category. This is a project that has been going on for a few years and was originally funded by a grant from the DOD. It is designed to test and monitor autonomous controls but with the added benefit that if something goes wrong, there is a pilot on board to disconnect the systems and take control of the aircraft.

No pictures this month since there are other projects going on in the hangar that he can’t share details on at the moment and some projects by others as well.
